Our bachelors and masters degree programmes will give you a good grounding in the essentials of chemistry.

Chemistry at Southampton has received a Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) ‘Excellence Ranking’, recognising our world-leading research and teaching.

100 per cent of our research has been rated world leading or internationally excellent for the research environment we provide to staff and students (REF 2014). The objective of our chemistry research degrees is to produce high-quality professional scientists, with an advanced understanding of chemistry and an enthusiasm to use this knowledge to carry out research in an academic or industrial environment.

Chemistry at Southampton has over 200 people actively involved in research. Each year we accept more than 50 postgraduate students from a variety of backgrounds to study for chemistry research degrees.
