Highfield / Highfield - Rayleigh labs - Acoustic chamber

Rayleigh Laboratories

Students use our acoustic facilities - including large and small anechoic and reverberation chambers, a loudspeaker listening room, and an audio laboratory - for individual and group project testing.

For example, the large anechoic chamber is used by second year students to test the performance of the loudspeakers they have designed and manufactured. Other examples include, measuring the noise from ducted propellers for use on drones, testing arrays for producing 3D sound in cars, and using the audio laboratory to simulate the acoustics of the Turner Sims Concert Hall to enable performers to rehearse off-site under realistic conditions.
