Help using the Virtual Open Day

The University of Southampton Virtual Open Day has been designed to be easy to use on all devices.

Please note the Virtual Open Day is currently experiencing a technical problem due to changes in the Google Street View interface. We are working to resolve these issues as soon as possible.

There are over 550 panoramic scenes for you to explore across the different campuses and accommodation site areas. Within these areas you can navigate to different scenes using the Street View controls (the white chevrons) to move from one scene to another.

You can orientate yourself either by clicking and dragging around the scene (if using a mouse), by touching and dragging (if using a touch-enabled device) or by using the circular Street View control in the bottom right of the scene.

You can zoom in and out either by scrolling your mouse wheel (if using a compatible mouse), or by using the Street View zoom control to the right of the scene.

If you want to head straight to key information, or to explore the accommodation, a particular campus, or courses on offer, then use the navigation you see on the left (for larger screens), or use the icon at the top of the screen (for smaller screens / mobile devices) to get the navigation to pop out if you don't see it on the left.

A diverse and welcoming community

The University of Southampton is a friendly, diverse and welcoming place. All of our campuses have a community feel, with world-leading facilities and an exciting range of activities to choose from.

You will work, live and socialise with students from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences, from all over the world.

A wealth of social and leisure facilities includes cafes, restaurants, bars, a shop and beauty salon, medical centres, banks, a renowned theatre, concert hall and art gallery, a cinema, a nightclub and great sporting facilities.

Through our students' union you can take part in clubs and societies ranging from snowboarding and mountain biking to photography and philosophy. We actively support and promote the arts and our venues have won national and international recognition.

You can also get involved in your halls of residence. Our junior common room (JCR) committees organise hall sports teams and a calendar of social activities to help you meet new people and settle into university life.

The Bridge

All of our campuses have a wide range of places to eat and drink catering for all tastes.

Whether you want to grab a quick sandwich, a cup of coffee and slice of cake, or have a more leisurely lunch with friends, you will find it here. Most of our food outlets offer Fairtrade products.
